Dear Lady’s Island Elementary Families,

I am wholeheartedly honored and delighted to be writing this introductory letter to you as the newly appointed Principal of Lady’s Island Elementary School. I am eager to jump into the excitement of this journey and meeting each of you!

I began my education career over a decade ago as a math teacher for the Military Academic Skills Program on Marine Corp Base Kaneohe Hawaii. My leadership experiences have included serving as a PK-8 assistant principal, instructional coach, TAP mentor teacher, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People Trainer, SREB Local Trainer, and much more. I believe all students can learn, given a positive, safe and orderly learning environment that is committed to meeting students’ needs. Our school’s core instructional mission is not simply to ensure that students are taught but to ensure that they learn. I envision Lady’s Island Elementary as an award-winning school, where all students achieve, and others want to emulate.

This year, we will place a laser-like focus on teaching standards with precision, aligning systems, and setting high expectations. To do the work, it will start with us meeting regularly as a team to identify the school’s strengths, weaknesses, and areas of opportunity. The work will not be easy, and it will take a lot of grit from us! This year, we will all have to P.U.S.H.!

Educators will:
• focus on teaching standards with precision
• have a sense of urgency
• create systems for learning
• have high expectations for every student

Parents will:

• participate in their student’s learning career
• unite with the school to help support the development of the whole child
• provide service to the school through volunteering
• set home expectations that support the students’ academic achievement

Students will:

• persevere through all odds
• unleash their genius and potential
• continue to let success be their only option
• work towards high achievement in all subjects.

Given the enormity of our charge as a team and overcoming the year of the “pandemic”, I value the importance of collective effort. I am energized by the many challenges and opportunities we have before us at LIES. It is my intention to work with you to ensure a high-quality educational experience for all. Together we will set a new course focused on student learning, a commitment to high expectations, and strong community. Look for future communications for opportunities to meet with me 1:1 as well as in a group setting.  I can't wait to meet each of you!
