Fun with Paints 1st,2nd,3rd,4th,5th Grades

Do you enjoy painting in art class? Do you hate using markers, colored pencils and crayons every day in class? Then this is the D’Arts for you. In Fun with Paints we will be using all sorts of paints and learning the different ways we can use those paints. Be prepared to paint landscapes, animals, people and so much more.

Weaving, Dying, and Printmaking Oh My!! 3rd,4th & 5th Grades

Oh My is right. This D’Arts activity will include working with many different materials. Materials we might not work with in the art room. In this class you will learn how do die fabrics, make prints on paper and even weave using yarn and a loom. If this sounds exciting to you join Weaving, Dying, and Printmaking Oh My!!

Make Your Own Fairy Tales for Fun 2nd, 3rd & 4th Grades

Create your own book that will be bound together so you can keep it.  You will write your fun story and you will draw pictures to put in your book.  If there’s enough time, we will act out your story and put it on film.

Fun with Puppets 1st & 2nd Grades

Do you enjoy making up fun stories with puppets?   If so, you will love fun with puppets where you can use all types of puppets to create stories and songs.

Puppet Theatre 3rd, 4th & 5th Grades

Puppets are fun to create all types of funny stories and all types of characters.  You will be creating puppet shows that will be produced for film and fun.  You will use all types of puppets and put them in fun stories.  You are the director, actor, and producer for your puppet theatre.

LEAP 2nd and 3rd Grade (Year Long)

This is an auditioned group. Students in this class will learn technique from various styles of dance, and perform choreographed dance pieces. There are two major performances; the Holiday Concert in December and D’Arts Alive in the spring. There may be other performance opportunities, both during and after school, throughout the school year. Students in this group are expected to attend all performances.

LEAP 4th and 5th Grade (Year Long)

This is an auditioned group. Students in this class will learn technique from various styles of dance, and perform choreographed dance pieces. Hip Hop Dance - 3rd, 4th and 5th Grade (First Quarter)

This dance class will focus on hip hop technique. Students will also learn hip hop dance combinations and create their own. Students in this group are not required to dance in performances. However, there may be performance opportunities during school day for to students to participate, if they choose.

Osprey Ovation -  3rd, 4th,5th Grades (Year Long)

Our official “school choir” where students   learn the basics of good singing and choral performance through a varied repertoire of children’s choral literature.    Students are selected from Osprey Ovation to attend both the SC Elementary Honor Choir and the Beaufort County Honor Choir.    Attendance at rehearsal is important and required for continual participation.   Osprey Ovation performs regularly throughout the year including some evening performances. 

Young Ospreys –  1st & 2nd Grades

The beginning choir for students in Grades 1-2.   These young singers learn the basics of good singing in a fun and movement filled environment.   Attendance at rehearsal is important and required for continual participation.   Young Ospreys is a performing ensemble and performs regularly throughout the year including some evening performances. 

Garden Club

This club teaches you how to work in the dirt and plant gardens.  You will watch seeds grow, learn where your food comes from, tend the school garden, and learn the importance of eating healthy foods.

Girls on the Run

Meeting twice a week with 15 female students in small teams, we teach life skills through dynamic, interactive lessons and running games. The curriculum is taught by certified Girls on the Run coaches and includes three parts: understanding ourselves, valuing relationships and teamwork and understanding how we connect with and shape the world at large. Running is used to inspire and motivate girls, encourage lifelong health and fitness, and build confidence through accomplishment. There is a fee of $15.00 to be a part of this club.
